We usually do not take in dogs, but when we met Bella she was in extreme danger. While at work, our rescue president, Jen, came across Bella on the front porch of a home. While talking to a couple of people who lived in the home, it became clear they did not want her there.
When Jen offered to try to help them find a rescue for her, the man pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot Bella. He made the threat multiple times and said he did not want the dog around. Despite knowing nothing about her and having no place for her to go, there was no way Jen could leave her there.
It was not in our plans to care for a dog, even one as sweet and beautiful as Bella. We were extremely fortunate that our supporters helped us raise the money to get her vetted and Jen was able to bring her home to foster. We started the process of getting her vetted but within a couple weeks, we found out Bella had a surprise for us - She was pregnant. This was not the news we wanted! We hoped the litter would be small and made preparations for puppies.
On November 5th, Bella had her puppies. Instead of the small litter we were hoping for, we got a football team. Bella had 12 puppies! Unfortunately one was still born but so far the other 11 are healthy. She had 5 girls and 6 boys and she has been a wonderful mother so far.
Despite all the challenges we've had so far, we are happy we made the decision to save Bella. She has so much love to give and we think she deserves the world. We are so thankful that she and her babies are safe. If you want to follow along, you can keep track of her story by following Bella and Babies on Facebook or checking back here!
If you are interested in spoiling this sweet girl and her football team, we have a special wishlist for her.
If you think you might want to foster or adopt Bella or one of her babies, please fill out a foster application or an adoption application!
If you can spare any money, we'd appreciate a donation! While we have raised enough money to get Bella fully vetted we still need to raise funds for all the babies vet care. They will need to be vaccinated, spay/neutered and microchipped before they can be adopted.
